Couple of post Millwall interviews from Aston Villa duo Albert Adomah and Neil Taylor.

Playing out a lucky point at Villa Park against Millwall last weekend, winger Adomah’s form has been a highlight in recent weeks with his free scoring run, but as he spoke to the Official Site whilst he was pleased with his ten goals so far this campaign, he knew he had to find more consistency in helping to create opportunities as well.

With him stepping up and finding the net on regular occasions, he does only have one assist to his name so far this year and he’s determined to improve that.

‘I think I`ve done well scoring for the team but, at the same time, I haven`t achieved one of my targets – assisting goals. People say that I`m scoring so that can only be a good thing but my main target is to assist because I`m a creative winger and I`m still looking to do that more frequently. My target is ten assists and I`ve only got one so far. I`ve reached the target of ten goals but I`ve still got a long way to go to hit my assists target.’

In Taylor mini interview this week with the players back in training ahead of our next clash, he focused more on the disappointing showing against Millwall and more than acknowledged the players underperformed.

He remained confident however that we continued to have momentum as we move through December’s fixtures.

‘You have to stay in the mix, especially through December now. We have to make sure we stay up there in that top six and obviously look to then push on as the season continues. We are a team that are constantly looking to climb the league. We are not in a bad position. We are in the right position now to push on and kick on as the season goes on. As long as you keep picking up points along the way, it keeps you in the mix.’

Reflecting on Millwall more specifically, he went on to say.

‘I think a point was a fair result, if we`re honest. We weren`t at our best. In the main, we have done well this season at home. But this weekend, we were below par and also up against a Millwall side who were very competitive, up-and-at-it. They will obviously be disappointed not to score. We had some opportunities to score too so probably a draw was about right and a fair result.’

With only one shot registered on target, plenty of others will have their thoughts on exactly what we deserved from the game but picking up points when the performance is dire and the other side is clearly on top is a good knack to have.

‘It wasn`t an easy game whatsoever. The lads would be the first to admit that. We were below par. We know we need to be better than that going-forward. But on the flip side, it`s a clean sheet, it`s a point and it`s a point towards where we want to go.’
