Aston Villa are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the scoreless draw with Millwall at the weekend at Villa Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Johnstone was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Millwall at Villa Park, with goalkeeper Sam Johnstone making a string of saves to help Steve Bruce`s men take a point. Johnstone had to repel eight efforts on target throughout the match and, in doing so, he ensured Villa remain fifth in the standings.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Johnstone for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the point.

Full Team:

Sam Johnstone (Aston Villa), Josh Yorwerth (Crawley Town), Matt Clarke (Portsmouth), Dan Burn (Wigan Athletic), Cristian Montano (Port Vale), Jack Byrne (Oldham Athletic), James Maddison (Norwich City), Billy Bodin (Bristol Rovers), Kemar Roofe (Leeds United), Sammy Szmodics (Colchester United), David Ball (Rotherham United).
