Aston Villa announced late yesterday evening that agreement had been struck with Sevilla over the transfer of Jordan Amavi.

A statement, well a short statement, read.

‘Aston Villa and Sevilla have agreed the transfer of Jordan Amavi, subject to medical testing within the next few days.’

Rather bizarrely the twitter coverage almost contained more details.

Having joined us for a reported £7.7million back in the summer of 2015, Amavi made 39 starting appearances for the club with an additional nine showings from the bench but he was out for a spell injured.

With talk of a £25million offer in previous transfer windows, chances are we certainly haven’t secured that kind of money for him as it looks like the 23 year old moves on having shown glimpses of the kind of player he could become, without truly making the position his own.

It is however one down as manager Steve Bruce looks to trim our overly bloated first team and you would expect Aly Cissokho to be the next out with talks with Turkish side Goztepe close to being finalised.

Then we have the speculated interest in Jordan Veretout (St Etienne) and Carles Gil (Deportivo) to factor in and our squad overall could look a little less bloated as Bruce looks to add to the capture of John Terry.
