Jordan Amavi has confirmed that Aston Villa have made him available for transfer this summer.

Having moved from OGC Nice for a reported £9million in the summer of 2015, Amavi has gone on to make 39 starting appearances for the club with an additional nine appearances from the bench.

Last season he made a total of 36 appearances under Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Bruce but it seems 23 year old Amavi has had enough of the Championship and Bruce is more than open to a departure. Having turned down a heavy bid from Marseille previously, clearly we won’t get that kind of return you would suspect but numbers do need to be trimmed this summer purely from a financial point of view.

French newspaper Nice-Matin are credited as the original source for all the reports that have appeared on line, and Amavi stated that the move was in effect his idea because he has ambitions.

‘We spoke with Aston Villa, I was upfront with them, the club were in return. If I have to leave, there will be no problem. I have ambitions. I want to play in Europe, for a club that play in all the competitions. I’ve been placed on the transfer list.’

He also confirmed that clubs had come forward to express an interest in his services next season, but that no firm offers had yet been made. The angle is obviously a Premier League return but open to a move abroad if they matched his ‘ambitions’.

‘There are clubs that have come to enquire and we’ve talked, even if there is nothing concrete yet. I love the Premier League, it is the league that I like enough, but I am open to other countries. If the sporting challenge is interesting, I will go ahead, I won’t think twice.’

With Liverpool, Sampdoria, Marseille, Monaco, Atletico Madrid and former club Nice all being linked with him in speculation during is time with us, let’s just hope the rumours of a £25million bid being turned down in January at least see us profit in the region of £15million this time round.
