Angel Knew It Would Come!

Juan Pablo Angel ended a seven month scoring barron spell against Bolton on Saturday and insisted: ‘I knew it would come – it’s not as if I forgot how to score goals.’

He now wants to use that goal as a platform to get his Villa career back on track. ‘I knew my bad run wouldn’t last forever. I wasn’t that I’d forgotten how to score goals….When you’re honest and you work hard, things will work out for you. I knew it was going to come fairly soon and I was feeling better about myself and feeling sharper. Over the last few weeks I was starting to feel well. You know yourself when you’re coming to the point when you can break that spell.’

None of our strikers have been particularly helped by the lack of supply from the rest of the team, and the long ball tactic we seem to adopt all too regularly will always fail when the strikers the ball is being aimed at are so small! Baros, Phillips, Moore and Angel aren’t exactly giants, we did have a giant, but he was sold to Southampton for £2million and is now a £7million Liverpool and England player. Yup, Peter Crouch!

Angel told the official site: ‘Sometimes you play 90 minutes and don’t get a chance. I played 60 minutes against Newcastle last week and I didn’t get a chance. I played six minutes on Saturday and got a goal. That’s football.’

He also thinks that Villa are ready to start competing more saying the squad is the best since his arrival at Villa Park.

O’Leary said: ‘He will get a great lift from this and if your strikers start scoring you have always a chance of winning games.’
