According to Dan Jones of Vital Football, amongst others, Gareth Barry has phoned Martin O’Neill saying after 10 years at Villa he wants to stay loyal to the club.

Villa skipper’s agent Alex Black is quoted as saying:

‘Gareth has spoken to Martin since he returned from England`s game in Trinidad and told him how he feels. At this stage of his career Gareth wants to be playing Champions League football and believes this is his chance to do it.’ It is believed that if Martin O`Neill can strengthen the team during the current transfer window that Aston Villa would be a real force in Premiership next season, building on a squad that already consists of hot prospects Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young, both currently England Internationals.

All players want to play Champions League, all players should want to help the team they are with play Champions League!

The report says Barry hopes a bid of around £15million can be rejected. Alex Black is believed to have asked for an extension to Barry`s current deal with the club.

This story will come as a real blow to Liverpool and their fans. It is already thought that Liverpool are having to use the sell to buy technique, but overpricing players like Scott Carson and Peter Crouch at £10mil and £15mil respectively, it could prove impossible to raise the funds required to make any top signings.

See boys and girls, its THAT easy.

Gareth Barry is going nowhere.
