With a 1-0 aggregate victory over Middlesbrough in the Championship Play-Off semi-finals, Aston Villa players have been correctly celebrating our achievement in taking the next step towards a return to the Premier League this season.

With us slipping a few too many times in the regular season and missing out on automatic promotion, the more financially rewarding and slightly more magic route via Wembley remains open for us as we enjoy an extended campaign. With Fulham next up on the hallowed turf, we aren’t there yet and there’s one more big performance needed from the lads to secure our stated aim at the beginning of the campaign.
With Boro dispatched though, we are a step closer to tangible success this season and as long as they don’t take their eye off the main prize, there’s certainly no reason why the players can’t take a moment for downtime and enjoy this last week.
I’m sure there may have been a cheeky half-pint or two on Tuesday evening, but the players certainly expressed their joy on social media following the match.
Over the moon to get over the line tonight. Nothing achieved yet one more game to go 👊🏻 See you all at Wembley! UTV pic.twitter.com/TndgLLcw2N
