The err… highlights? Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers.

My nan used to say if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. I`ve nothing to say about that match! Well, I have plenty but it isn`t publishable. At least Steve Bruce now knows exactly the size of the job he has.

Got away with murder.

Is someone spiking the half time oranges? how does a whole team lose the ability to play football in the second half? Regardless of score , we were out played for the first 15 minutes and the whole of the second half. I can see us going down in the history books as the team with the most draws ever in a season. Not good enough. Bruce has his work cut out.

Very Lucky tonight. A point gained but the same problems persist. Bruce has a job on his hands. No chance of promotion. To light in midfield. Need 3 in there. Consolidate this season. Stay up. Build some system/formation. Make additions in January and the summer. Certainly not sure about jedinek and elphick. Very poor tonight but I think they all were to be honest. We move on to Reading Tuesday. Bruce has only had 48 hours in the job. It’s going to take time but patience is running low. 5 years of decline and utter rubbish has pushed us Villans to the brink. There’s only one positive from tonight and that the point. We didn’t deserve it. Wolves should have won. Key decisions went our way tonight and we sneaked it. Still depressed though. Over to you Steve and the squad. Fight like Lions!!!!!

This was one Villa should have lost Wolves supporters must be sick at the referee for not giving them 2 more penalties. That’s the upside, on the downside where do we go from here. Hope Bruce is getting well paid for this and all the sleepless nights he’s got to come.
HonestDave

As far as I’m concerned, we’ve reached a new low tonight. lucky to escape a draw at home against wolves. unbelievable.

Get father Terry in asap

Sorry, but while it takes time to turn things around, as soon as Jedinak and Richards were announced in the team, I thought a defeat.. Has Bruce not looked at the recordings of this season – or even just the last debacle at Preston. Until a sounder defence is sorted out, then all our supposedly quality players will count for nothing. Jedinak is too slow, and Richards too bad generally. And the centre of our defence is also a huge priority to get right before we can begin to move forward. Baker should be part of it. Not sure about anyone else.

Would it have been a worse performance under RDM?

There is no doubting we dodged a bullet there, and the second half was as bad as anything we’ve seen. But Bruce has had all of 5 minutes with the squad, so what did anyone seriously expect would change? I’m surprised the players didn’t make more of an effort for the new manager, but this seems to be a common thread. I was also surprised to see Richards back in the team, but to be fair, I thought he was ok. Elphick was disastrous and Jedinak had a shocker as well. Work to be done, but if anyone can get a tune out of this squad, it’s probably Steve Bruce. Or Neil Warnock, but nobody wanted him so he went to Cardiff.

Yes fortunate but about time we had some luck. Just read after match comments and Bruce appears to of been watching the same game as the fans, especially regarding the fitness. Early days let’s see how things progress given time.

after we missed the chance to go 2-0 up we where very lucky not too have lost 1-3 .we got no midfield they where all over us,at least Bruce was shouting at them give him time.
Nerrad Villa

Richards must have thought he would never play again and decided to join a pie tasting club. Jedinak looks like a wasted money to me .Our strikers need something better than mr blobby and co for creativity.Think Bruce has already sussed that.
AV Dave

On Nov 15 Jedinackered will be off again to play for Australia against Thailand and we play Brighton away on 18 Nov. Face it, we bought a busted carthorse off Palace and now we are way way too light in midfield. His legs have gone. Brucey, give Sanchez another chance if we can get him back from his loan to Fiorentina.

The one thing that really frustrated me was why Gollini kept launching the ball to Kodjia, he did not in win one of them. The ball went from their centre half to full back then over the top of our high line to their wingers. This was the sequence that was killing us. Gollini should have started to play the ball out, if Bruce wants to launch to a target man he needs to play Gestede. The injuries forced his hand with substitutes but we need to have a better plan. Midfield we will have to make do until January, although Bacuna is an option. Lack of fitness at this stage of the season is a big concern. Bruce is the right man at the right time, we need to galvanise ourselves with the team to rise out this. VTID

1st impressions on our new buys……….shocking! But can they all be that bad, something is very wrong down at the Villa and it’s going to take Steve Bruce a long time to sort it out 3 years at the very least…….Lerner you’re still a ****.
Eltoro

Elphick, Jedinak were captain of their previous clubs I don’t think they would have left them go if they had been any good.
HonestDave

OneloveVilla you have hit the nail on the head. Why do we continue to play hoof ball to McCormack who is 5 foot 9 inches. Where was the midfield? Jedinak is a complete waste of time and money. What in gods name is wrong with our club? SB must be wondering this morning what he has done to deserve this lot. Grealish will likely be given a 3 match ban after the FA see the replay of his petulance and once again we were very lucky to escape with a draw. There is no way we will even make the play offs this season. Its all so depressing especially as I was hoping for a turnaround in performance. SB has one hell of a job on his hands.

Anyone criticising Brucie for yesterday needs a reality check, the guy has only had about 48 hours with the squad. Not sure if its because we spend most of the game chasing shadows but we never seem to look as fit as the opposition. What did RDM do in pre-season? Thought Adomah was probably our best player on the night, but like the rest of the team he faded in the 2nd. Funniest moment of the game has to be the cheering from the Holte when Jedinak got the hook, quickly turning to boo’s when they realised Westwood was his replacement.
garygaryshaw

to be fair, at least Westwood seemed like he could run.
