Wee Barry Bannan has said that the host of changes made by Ian Holloway for last nights match, actually made it more difficult for the boys.

Speaking on the Official Site following last nights roller coaster game Bannan dismissed suggestions that Villa had the advantage with Blackpool’s accepted first team out, because the Seasiders had nothing to lose, and the players selected had everything to gain.

‘In a way you can say it was harder because these guys who came in for Blackpool were trying to fight for a place at the weekend and trying to take people’s positions.’

The Bananaman also added that Villa certainly didn’t underestimate Blackpool, as the lads knew it was going to be a big battle.

‘We didn’t take it lightly, we knew we were going to get a hard game but I think it showed the spirit in the team that we kept going right until the end to get the goal.’

Whilst he may have been a bit disappointing in his overall performance last night, there was certainly reason to celebrate today as it was confirmed that Craig Levein has given Bannan his first senior call up for Scotland and he has the chance to earn his first cap in their friendly against the Faroe Islands on Tuesday.

‘I have been aiming towards that since I was younger and to get it this early is a big achievement for me.’

The future’s very bright for the wee man and he can only get better with experience.
