Gareth Barry has asked the Villa fans to turn up in numbers tomorrow for the clash against West Ham.

The Villa captain said in a rallying cry to fans:

‘There are so many things to come to the game for. Obviously we’ve made the signings and they’ll be making their home debuts, but this is also an important home game. So we could really do with a big crowd to push us on. We want to build on the 2-0 win against Watford in the last home game.’

Adding: ‘We played really well at Newcastle on Wednesday night, even though we lost and hopefully a similar performance can get us the three points tomorrow. John (Carew) and Ashley (Young) have come in and really boosted everyone. It gives all the players a real lift when new players come in and the gaffer’s added real quality in the transfer window, so that’s even more of a lift. It keeps everyone on their toes. There’s real competition for places now and the training sessions are the busiest I’ve known for a long time.’

‘West Ham are struggling near the bottom of the table, but they’re bringing quite a few fans and I’m sure they’ll be fired up for it. But we know how much noise our own fans can make and hopefully they’ll be out in force to give the new signings a massive welcome.’

Come on Villa fans, the forecast is good (it will be sunshine and temperatures of 70 degrees – not at Villa Park but hey ho) and what better to do on a Saturday afternoon than roar the team home?
