Blue Moon Backtrack

Oh dear me, not the first backtrack for Mr McGinnity, then again I suppose at least he backtracks instead of trying to completely forget what he said like our Chairman!

Today Coventry City’s esteemed Chairman raised even more smiles for the Villa faithful:

‘I had certain options, we discussed them and one was to see if we could play our first three games away from home, it’s not ideal but what can we do in a situation like this?

Second, is to ask the team we are drawn against if we could reverse that fixture, and the third option is to play at Highfield Road or somewhere else.

Now thinking about it, if we’d had a poll, which I would have carried our for the supporters to take part in, is that if we couldn’t have got Highfield Road ready after the Elton John concert on Saturday night, then it is playing at another ground.

I’m sure whilst we had the end of an era game our supporters would be less inconvenienced if they came back to Highfield Road, rather than going to their famous away game at Villa Park.’

I don’t know what’s more funny, the insistance that a poll would be carried out and it would be the supporters who took part in it, as opposed maybe to employees of Villa Village or the number of hits the official site had that month – I really don’t know how many of Ellis’ ideas would have rubbed off? Or that he acknowledges his fans count our ground as their ‘famous’ away game.

Let’s face it, they haven’t had one for a while, I’m sure they’d be gagging to play in a Premiership ground again, especially ‘their famous’ one.

Makes you warm and tingly inside doesn’t it. Coventry really does love us.
