Manager Steve Bruce has been giving his thoughts on the injury sustained by Jonathan Kodjia in the weekend’s draw with Burton Albion.

Heading to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday for the tie, Villa battled to a one all draw but did take the early blow of Kodjia going off injured in the 36th minute – having given us the lead three minutes in.

Speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference, Bruce explained that initial thoughts on the problem were that it was simply a deadleg as opposed to anything too serious, so hopefully a few massages and some rest will see him right as clearly we missed him when he went off the pitch.

‘We think it`s a dead leg. We don`t think it`s too severe. Let`s hope he recovers well because we missed him. We missed him when he went off, we missed his cutting edge. He’s in great form at the moment which is good.’

With no midweek clash this week and Reading next up at Villa Park next weekend, fingers crossed that will give him plenty of time to bring himself back into contention for the game as even though today’s draw probably officially ended outside hopes of Play Off promotion this year, it’s far better Kodjia and Hogan get games together to build their understanding ahead of next campaign.

Kodjia has since given his own update.
