Bye Bye Milner and Shorey

James Milner will no longer have to fill in at right back after being left out of last night’s Valencia friendly because O’Neill expects his Man City move any minute.

Speaking on the Official Site following the match O’Neill clarified the earlier comments surrounding Milner which were basically he wasn’t involved because of his back injury, the same stuff that was kicked out during the Guadiana Cup.

The truth however finally came out and O’Neill simply wasn’t playing him because he expects his move to Man City to be formalised within the next few days.

‘We didn’t play him tonight primarily because there could be something in terms of the transfer. Really that’s where we stand.’

So enough of the back problem BS, as expected by everybody with half a brain, Milner hasn’t been involved in our pre season because the deal is nigh on done.

I don’t blame Milner, like I didn’t Barry, and I wish him the best. Only so many times as a professional and ambitious player I suppose you can see your dream of silverware and Champions League football fall away in March with a manager patently incapable of using the squad he has purchased or making sensible substitutions, and that’s ignoring everything else.

O’Neill doesn’t care what I, or other fans think, Milner however cares about what he can win.

In other news, O’Neill also confirmed that Nicky Shorey was undergoing a medical at the Boingers during the Valencia match.

‘Nicky has gone over there for a medical, I know some fee has been agreed, it seemed that everything was in place at the time.’

In worse news for Villans everywhere, the rumour linking Emile Heskey to Bristol City is a non starter though.

‘That’s not true. I can definitely tell you that’s not true.’

So players capable of doing a job are on O’Neill’s out list, yet a striker who doesn’t score will continue to pick up his excellent wages.

Welcome to the new season…it’s all Randy’s lack of investment you know and not O’Neill waste of money.
