Ok, I don’t believe this one. I am – and have been all summer long (as have most I think?) – convinced that the James Milner move will happen, and Martin O’Neill as good as said so last night. See report on Vital Villa: Click Here

However, The Times are saying the fee will be around £15million and rising to £20m with add ons. There is no way in this world Villa will be selling a star asset at that price.

Wrong… next…!

This will happen very soon won’t it? That will then set the domino effect that all clubs are waiting for transfer wise I think.

Daniel Taylor at The Guardian has a comprehensive article on the Milner saga including quotes. The report repeats the link that Milner will go to Citeh and in exchange we’ll get cash and Stephen Ireland. Personally I’d love to see Ireland at Villa, so if we get a good wonga of dosh as well, it will be a great deal for Villa and once again the board will have proven that they won’t be bullied into selling assets cheaply.

As you know, MON has already admitted: ‘We didn’t play him against Valencia because there could be something happening in terms of the transfer over the weekend or Monday or Tuesday.’ Adding that talks are ongoing and that he hopes it will be sorted very quickly now.

The Guardian report quotes Mancini: ‘We are close but we still have time. We are speaking to Aston Villa and we are near. I am hopeful.’ They say that the compromise on price will include Ireland making the overall package around £27.5m. A great deal for Villa. Milner is good but is he THAT good?

As we hinted the other day, Nicky Shorey looks set for a move to WBA. Good luck to him, I liked him and don’t think he a) had a fair crack of the whip b) let us down when he did play.

Alan Nixon of The Mirror has an article linking Nigel Hokey-Cokey to Blackburn Rovers for around £1million. Hokey-Cokey is in his last year and can leave on a bosman next summer. The whispers I’ve heard suggest he wants to do just that and I must say, I can’t blame him, a bosman move could set him up for life and if we progress in Europe, he will surely get some games for Villa this season?
