Can Villa Fans Have Their Club Back Please – Match Stats

|

It’s been a while since Aston Villa last visited The City Ground for a Premier League tie against Nottingham Forest, but after their promotion from the Championship last term, that’s what Monday night’s fixture had in store for us.

Head coach Steven Gerrard went with an attacking line up, so hopefully it would pay off – and it was a more lively start from us in fairness. So, typically with what I think was their first effort, Forest took the lead.

We were back on level terms shortly after though as Ash Young powered in a cracker from outside the box. Fingers crossed we were now awake properly.

We weren’t, the goal should’ve lifted our confidence but we seemed to sit back even more, play even slower and then just relied on aimless long balls up top to an isolated Ollie Watkins – so it was standard stuff for Villa now.

1-1 at the break, let that please be the bad half as I might not make it to full time at this rate.

1-1 full time, I made it but I don’t remember anything of any real note happening.

Any chance we can have our club back please and a semi-competent manager to boot? It was that dire I can’t even be bothered to moan about it – Big Eck had more tactical nous and I never thought I’d ever say that.

Let’s face it we’re a poor side playing Championship football at best, no attacking threat no cutting edge, out last game 19 shots no goals and today our 37 year old full back scores, what does this say about our so called strikers
We’re clueless and toothless and so is our manager this can’t go on. Chelsea up next what a joke. I won’t be wasting my time watching.

Caught the game on sky text commentary. Long before full time whistle they were wanting to go home. Says it all really.

Get out now Gerrard and take Purslow with you.
In my opinion your tactics and system are never likely to work with these players or any others. You are the problem.
I am a season ticket holder and have been for many years but will not renew as long as you are manager.
You are rapidly taking this team to the Championship.

Off topic but I hear that Jota has decided to retire at 31. He’s fallen out of love with the game. I wish him well, he was briefly a fan favourite after all. Maybe I can understand his decision because I am falling out of love with the game. Maybe it’s a Villa thing. Imagine if we bought Mbappe, within a year he’d prefer cycling around France selling onions.
