Aston Villa’s home hosting of newly promoted Rotherham United is the latest match to suffer a switch.

We were due to welcome them to Villa Park (presuming we are still trading by then) on Wednesday, September 19 but the game has now come forward 24 hours and will take place at 7.45pm on Tuesday, September 18.
Villa give no reason for the change but we don’t do sensible announcements under Dr Tony Xia do we, it’s certainly not stated that’s it’s for television coverage on the Tuesday and being Rotherham I can’t imagine the Police and the safety groups have suddenly panicked.
Maybe there’s a financial benefit for us that I can’t think of?
Rotherham were one of the three promoted sides from League One last season and the last time we faced them at Villa Park we took a 3-0 victory with Rudy Gestede getting a brace and Jack Grealish getting himself on the scoresheet. That was back in August 2016.
Reaction from fans has been as you would expect, although this switch does suit JF.
