Steve Bruce said after the 3-1 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa:

‘We don’t like it, it’s a horrible, horrible feeling to lose to your fierce rivals,’ said Bruce. ‘It’s the first time we’ve experienced it at Villa Park in four years and of course it hurts.’

Gary Cahill meanwhile says ‘We can enjoy it now because people aren’t talking about relegation any more…But we don’t want to be too laid back. The lads want to finish as high up the league as possible. There’s going to be more confidence in the side now, because we’re not involved with that fight at the bottom. Hopefully the lads can relax and play the sort of football we know we’re capable of.’

With Portsmouth losing yesterday, it now looks like a three horse race at the bottom with any two of West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham City or Portsmouth to go down. Fulham aren’t totally safe yet either.
