New head coach Dean Smith’s second game in charge of Aston Villa ended in defeat at Carrow Road yesterday evening as we took on Norwich City in our latest Championship tie.
Having taken the lead through James Chester, it was far from a comfortable game for us but that was to be expected, however, injuries forced Smith’s hands and it’s not unfair to say the substitutes didn’t have the impact he’d have liked.
Rather than helping us consolidate our position, Norwich edged it and scored two of their own to send us to defeat.
With some vitriolic reactions from some and more understanding, albeit hugely frustrated responses from others, one man did gain some praise for his showing.
Over to on-loan Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe.
Tuanzebe was immense tonight, our best player by miles. Expecting him to be dropped for Friday as that’s what happened last time he played well in his actual normal position at Blackburn. Oh wait, no, we don’t have a spud in charge anymore. #avfc

I was at the game and Tuanzebe looked a class above all your other players

Thought Tuanzebe was MOTM by a street for Villa. As you say square pegs in square holes from DS has to improve matters in both the short and long term.

Thought Tuanzebe was the pick 4us 2nite, also thought Neil Taylor has settled back in2 the team well, not Taylor’s biggest fan but done ok last 2games & u can c benefit of having left footer in that position rather than Hutton. Somehow only 8pts off top & not got goin yet #avfc

Take the positives where we can as we all know the negatives, but those who support instant gratification will need to get a new outlook on life.
