Delph Talks Twinkletoes

Now I’ve come up with some bizarre nicknames for players over the years – usually just adding a ‘Y’ or an ‘IE’ at the end of the name.

You know Delphy, Giveny, Guzany, Albie, Clarkie, Okorie, Westy, Cleverley, Gabby, Bentekey – well it helps pass the time.

It appears our Fab contract extension follows the same pattern – well partially – as he’s told the Official Site.

‘We’ve got Carlos and Carles so I have given him the nickname Gilly – it’s a lot easier.’

Going onto praise his 30 minutes showing against Liverpool and his performance and goal against Bournemouth in the fourth round FA Cup tie at the weekend, Delph inexplicably then adds.

‘He looks a great player – a real talent and he’s only young. I call him twinkletoes.’

In a battle between Gilly and Twinkletoes – Twinkletoes wins and the challenge now is to get it into every piece I ever write about our new signing!

I managed to get zone dweebies in the other year after a challenge, so I remain confident I can go again and delphinitely do it.

‘First off, he works hard and he is committed, I always like to see those qualities in players I play with. I definitely see that in him. His goal against Bournemouth was brilliant. But he’s been doing that all week in training. It was no surprise when he did that at the weekend. But it was definitely an unbelievable moment and an unbelievable finish. To see the fans celebrate the goal – with that noise they can generate – was great to watch.’

Delph goes on to say that there’s no question that Twinkletoes will have an effect on our season and make things happen out on the pitch now, because he can only get better as he settles at the club, and settles with the pace of the league and learns more about what type of runs those ahead of him will make, so he feels we’ve picked up an absolute gem and so far, who would disagree?
