It’s a day of nicknames…Jores Okore has praised the explosive Alan Hutton for his performances so far this season.
Speaking to the Official Site about our born again right back, Okore says that Hutton just keeps getting better and better for us with every passing game this season, and explained he’s started to call him Mr Reliable because he doesn’t let us down in defence, and he’s starting to bag himself a growing number of assists in attack – most recently setting Andi Weimann up for his goal against Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
‘Alan is just so solid as a player. He’s Mr Reliable. He just goes about his job in a calm manner and doesn’t want a lot of fuss. He’s happy playing well and doing his work well.’
Hutton and calm don’t often appear in a sentence together, but that side of his game has improved this season apart from a few hiccups, and long may it continue.
‘When you play to a solid level every week sometimes people watching the games just expect it. There’s a little bit of that with Alan. He is always top class in my eyes but in some of his performances, he’s really exploded in terms of his levels.’
Okore goes on to add that he feels Hutton’s a great player, good on the ball, and he does the dirty work that players don’t often get credit or acknowledgement for, and he finishes by praising him for his work rate in defence and attack, as he certainly puts the yards in down the right hand side.
‘Alan has been great in virtually every game he’s played. He may not get the plaudits all the time because of that consistency to his game, but the boys appreciate what he does.’
Continues to be a good turn around for our Scot, and whilst it’s disappointing to not see Matt Lowton continue to kick on, hopefully his time will come again and we’ll have some good competition on the right that should push both of them onto better, but it’s certainly been a strange season where previous – and in some cases well deserved – scapegoats and targets in performances are actually now our standout performers.
