Door Not Closed On Belhanda Deal?

If Villa have any interest in Montpellier’s Younes Belhanda the sticking point could be the fee the club want for him.

Sky Sports are carrying quotes from the 23 year old midfielder who they say still interests Aston Villa, along with AC and Inter Milan and Galatasaray, and he has revealed the fee that this current club want to do business at:

‘Nothing has been decided yet. My club wants (£12.5million) and not many teams can pay that.’

He continues to add that his preference remains England, but unless Montpellier reach agreement with somebody it’s likely he will be seeing out his contract.

We’ve done well this year to tie up quick deals for targets and we haven’t been overpaying on what appear to be reasonable sensible transfer fees (if that’s not an oxymoron in today’s transfer market) so if we do want Belhanda, the closer we go to deadline day will see Montpellier start to budge on the fee they want.

Or of course it could just be guff as given we have already signed a few midfielders this season, Lambert must be confident of shipping people out if he plans to add more competition to the position.
