According to his agent Eric Djemba-Djemba will not be leaving Aston Villa in the winter transfer window.

The midfielder, who joined Aston Villa from Manchester United last season, has been outspoken against David O’Leary, although he has since stated that he was ‘misquoted’. It is obvious the player isn’t going to get a look in despite us only having a small squad but his agent Christophe Mongal says his client will be too busy with the African Cup of Nations to negotiate any move.

He claims ‘It will be very difficult for us to find another club in January because of the tournament in Africa. Eric is very disappointed not to be playing for Villa, especially as he is not even on the bench. But to move in the next transfer window is not something we can really look at and therefore he must accept that he will be at Villa until the end of the season.’

He has also warned the player to keep his thoughts to himself! ‘Eric is contracted to Villa and therefore must respect the coach. What he said was caused by the frustration of not playing but you cannot criticise the manager.’ Surely that is a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted?!
