Milan Baros is part of the squad for tonight’s reserves match against Portsmouth (away) as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury picked up in training before the world cup finals. He will be joined by Patrik Berger, Wilfred Bouma, new signing Didier Agathe and Eric Djemba-Djemba.
Martin O’Neill told the official site: ‘Milan made a brief substitute appearance at West Ham on Sunday, but he needs match action at the moment. There’s a few of them in action, so I’ll be a very interested spectator at tonight’s game.’

Baros recently committed himself to Villa saying ‘I can see this club is showing ambition and I decided to stay because I want to play a part in the exciting times at Villa’ after being linked to a summer transfer window exit.

I must admit I was surprised on Sunday that the hecklers started criticising Baros so quickly despite the fact he’s not played competitive football since the end of last season, after all he was our top scorer last season in what was a dire season. What he – and the other strikers need, is the supply and they’ll happily bang in the goals for us!

Reserves squad: Taylor, Gardner, Bridges, Djemba-Djemba, O’Halloran, Bouma, Agathe, Osbourne, Whittingham, Baros, Berger. Subs: Green, Olejnik, Kabeya, MacDonald.
