I think most fans will accept that Republic of Ireland international Scott Hogan’s time at Aston Villa is now up. If he was going to get a second lease of life with us with the arrival of former head coach Dean Smith given their productive time at Brentford, it simply hasn’t happened, so I fail to see why that would now happen given we are back in the Premier League.

With many expecting that by hook or by crook some kind of deal will be done that sees him move on this summer, it appears that fellow former Brentford gaffer Mark Warburton may be interested in taking him to Queens Park Rangers for a reunion.

The claim seems to have come originally from West London Sport but their claim is a loan deal where we would have to continue to cover some of his wages.

Unlike the Sheffield United loan last season which I thought was ridiculous, I think we’d be sensible to stomach covering some of his wages this year as moving to Loftus Road I can’t see how he wouldn’t be their main striker.

With his contract not up until 2021, a damn good year of regular football back under his belt and hopefully a return of his goalscoring touch would maximise our ability to more sensibly cut our losses given our original outlay on him.

If we can’t get a suitable permanent deal agreed, this could be the next best option.
