The error made by Aston Villa goalkeeper Scott Carson whilst on international duty has made the on-loan stopper stronger, according to Blackburn’s Brad Friedel.

Friedel, an ex-Liverpool player himself, has constantly and consistently performed for Blackburn over the years, and believes that Carson can go on to do the same thing, no matter which club he ends up at for next season.

Carson, of course, allowed Niko Krancjar to score from 25 yards having allowed his weak shot to bounce past him as Croatia went on to knock England out of Euro 2008 contention however Saturday’s opposite number believes that the mistake will only make him stronger:

‘Scott is a good keeper. The best time to tell what a keeper is really made of is when they go through an adverse time. Well now you know that Scott is a good keeper. He went through some public humiliation via the media the day after the Croatia game and for a few weeks after – but he has been tremendous since,’ said Friedel.

‘I am sure he will be in the reckoning for the England number one in the future.’
