Aston Villa have today announced that Acorns Children’s Hospice will continue as our official shirt sponsor next season.

So for two seasons Villa have decided that community spirit is more important than corporate wonga and that decision for two seasons in a row has certainly put a smile back on this simple fans face.

David Strudley, Acorns Chief Exec said on the official site:

‘There are 1,600 life limited children living in our region. They do not have time to wait for the help they need, we must reach them and help them through their situation. Acorns must not let these families down.

‘We are calling on the community now to think about all they can possibly do to help us throughout the year, from volunteering to fundraising. We need people to come forward and help.’

Duncan Riddle, Aston Villa’s head of community, said: ‘For a second season we will engage our staff, players, fans and other partners, in activities that will celebrate Acorns and assist them in their fundraising efforts.’

With the continuing partnership, Villa and Acorns will be trying to raise the profile of the new Fragile Lives appeal which aims to secure the future of the children’s hospice care across the Midlands.

The appeal is not just about money, it’s also about giving members of the community the chance to involve themselves in the work Acorns do. Whether that be volunteering to help out around the community, or by spending some spare time to help in the retail shops.

So whilst donations are still vitally important, there are other ways in which people can help a worthy cause.
