“Good Back Up” “No Brainer” – These Villa Fans Are Tempted After Former Target’s Price Reveal
Aston Villa have been linked with former England international goalkeeper Jack Butland for the last couple of transfer windows but with Stoke City refusing to lower their £25million valuation on the 27-year-old, we walked away and turned to Tom Heaton instead.
With Stoke continuing to struggle, although he did feature 36 times for them in the 2019/20 campaign, he made numerous individual errors in matches and after the 5-0 hammering by Leeds United, Butland found himself relegated to the bench or was out of the squad completely.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Stoke are now prepared to cut their losses with Butland still refusing to sign a contract extension (12 months left), and they are now apparently willing to let him go for as little as £8-10million.
Butland As Back Up A £8m?
With Heaton still working his way back to fitness, Pepe Reina’s loan spell coming to an end, Orjan Nyland (despite his clear improvement) being error-prone and Jed Steer seemingly not in head coach Dean Smith’s plans and the assumption we will be inviting offers for Lovre Kalinic – Butland might not be a bad gamble at that price.
Had his turned by the Villa – who can blame him?! I'd take him for 10mil, talented keeper, had a bad season.

Yeah I think butland for under 10mil could be shrewd, cutler and Smith obviously don't rate Nyland, and only steer at championship level it seems,but number two behind Heaton, play the cup games get his confidence back, worth a go for me.#avfc
