Aston Villa confirmed yesterday that Keinan Davis and Corey Blackett-Taylor will lead the line at this weekend’s Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament.
Our opening day fixtures were released the other week and the seven a side mini tournament sees us take in games against:
Saturday May 27 – Group C:
Villa v Singapore Cricket Club (10.26am HK time/3.26am UK time)
Villa v HKFA U23 (12.07pm HK time/5.07am UK time)
Villa v Bayern Leverkusen (13.33pm HK time/6.33am UK time)
The knockout stages of the tournament to which we have a rich history in, lifting the trophy in 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2010 and last season, will be confirmed following Saturday’s fixtures and will take place on Sunday.
There are a number of familiar names in the travelling squad, with six appearances in the 2016/17 Championship campaign, Keinan Davis travels as does Blackett-Taylor who made his senior debut in March’s loss to Huddersfield Town.
Last year’s Golden Boot winner Harry McKirdy makes the trip for the fourth year running and January recruit Jacob Bedeau is set for his first experience of the competition.
