Australian international midfielder Mile Jedinak has said he now feels ‘right at home’ at Aston Villa following the summer switch from Crystal Palace.

Having spent five years at Selhurst Park, the 32 year old admitted it was a difficult decision for him to leave South London over the summer as he was content, but having seen the passion of the supporters and the challenge that it is to play for Aston Villa, he’s looking forward to a much more successful season in 2017/18.

Speaking to the Official Site this week, the quickly established fan favourite and new ‘Villa Beard’ explained.

‘It wasn`t an easy decision to leave Palace but I saw it as another opportunity for myself and my family to move and to go and play for a huge football club. I feel right at home, not only working with the boys, the management and staff everyday but also going to Villa Park and being among the fans.’

Adding.

‘It`s good to be able to do your bit for them as well. People who follow and support this football club are very passionate about this football club and it didn’t take me long to realise that. I`m just very grateful that I`ve been given the opportunity to do my thing for them.’

He also explained his name the other day, as born Michael John Jedinak, Mile is simply a nickname that was given to him by his grandparents when that beard was only a twinkle in his eye.

‘I was named ‘Michael John` by my parents but being of a Croatian heritage and growing up with grandparents who didn`t really speak a lot of English, everyone called me ‘Mile.’ I just went with it. In football I played for Croatian background clubs, I just stuck with it. Throughout school I was always ‘Michael,` however, in the football world, it`s always been Mile. Now I`m just used to it.’
