Jonathan Hogg’s agent has said the young midfielder would be happy to return to Portsmouth next season if his Villa career didn’t pan out.
Speaking to local journalists, Mick McGuire said.
‘Jonathan enjoyed it at Portsmouth and I know the club were impressed with him as an all round individual as well as a player. His loan spell was everything he hoped it would be. He will be considering his future this summer and would never rule out the possibility of returning.’
It’s got to be said, Hoggy is terrier like in midfield but it’s unlikely he’ll force his way into our first team given the players he is up against.
Maybe a permanent move isn’t the right idea yet, but a season long loan could well prove useful for all parties as Hogg would get that additional boost of regular football to see how his development would go.
