Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has hit back at Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, after the Frenchman believed he’d been singled out for criticism over his move for influential midfielder Charlie Adam.

The 63-year old claims his counterpart in Blackpool has distanced Kenny Dalglish from Liverpool’s bid, whilst doing the exact opposite when it came to the West Midland club’s bid.

Villa, along with Liverpool and city rivals Birmingham have all had bids rejected for the Scottish international, 25, who reportedly handed in a transfer request at Bloomfield Road on Monday.
