The two frontrunners for the Villa Park hotseat remain Carlo Ancelotti and Mark Hughes, but nobody seems to know if Hughes is still in a job?
There are plenty of rumours going round about Hughes at the moment, some suggest Fulham have warned Villa about approaching him and offered him a seriously improved deal, whereas others suggest he may have enacted his option of walking away.
When Hughes joined Fulham on his initial 2 year deal, there was an option where he could cancel the contract yesterday for a minimal compensation fee.
In recent days it’s been reported that Hughes and Fulham have been negotiating a new deal, but it seems the only thing that anybody is sure of is that those talks stalled.
I would imagine we’ll know if Hughes has walked away or if the press are just getting excited over nothing before the end of the day.
In either scenario, I can’t imagine Fulham won’t issue a full response soon, but both Ancelotti and Hughes seem to be the favourites amongst fans (outside of Moyes) but even then, there isn’t anywhere near 100% agreement.
It’s going to be a full couple of days!
