Right back Alan Hutton has said he loves his ‘Scottish Cafu’ nickname from the fans.
With a growing section of the Villa Park support using the nickname to describe 32 year old Hutton’s performances the Official Site took him to task on the topic and he love it.
‘I love it. Everyone wants to hear and read good things about themselves – I`m certainly no different. The fans have been amazing with me ever since I joined the club. I want to thank them for that. Their support drives me on. I have an inner drive to do well as a sportsman and footballer but they give me that added kick week in and week out. I know the nickname has been around a while and it`s all good. It makes me smile. It makes me laugh. I love all that. It`s good fun. The fans call me the ‘Scottish Cafu` and I get a buzz off it. I appreciate it. He wasn`t a bad player either, was he?’
Hutton won over plenty of fans with his performances last season, he did come third in Vital Villa’s Player of the Season poll behind winner Jonathan Kodjia and Mile Jedinak in second place, and he went on to say that he’s enjoying his time under Steve Bruce at the club but obviously everybody is after improvement next season.
‘At the end of the day, like any footballer, I want to play – and I`ve played a lot this season. The manager has shown faith in him, he`s given me the opportunity to play week in and week out and I want to repay him for that going-forward into the coming season. I am really enjoying my football here. It`s a great football club and we have some great lads in that dressing room and a good manager who knows where he wants to take us.’

‘The season before last, that was tough – everyone knows that. But it`s onwards and upwards now. We made progress last season and now we want to take that next step. No one is looking back. We are looking forward.’
