It is written in the stars for us to be returning to the place we deserve to be.
Who can forget the quote that was famously made by Brian Moore that everyone sees on display at Villa Park?
“Shaw, Williams, prepared to venture down the left. There’s a good ball played in for Tony Morley. Oh, it must be and it is! It’s Peter Withe.”
What was the date of that most famous moment in the history of our great club? 26th May and there is no coincidence that the play-off final is on the same day. I remember at the time none of the pundits were giving Aston Villa a chance against Bayern Munich for that game and no one outside of B6 is giving us much of a chance this time around either. We will show them, like we did on May 26th 1982.
And as many others have said on here, let’s do this for Steve Bruce and give him a moment to smile in a period where there will have been many tears for him.
