It’s All About Getting Moore

Martin O’Neill has admitted that it has been the form of Marlon Harewood that has paved the way for Luke Moore to head for newer pastures at the Boggies.

Speaking on the official site, O’Neill explained the details of the move and likened it to the deal we have with them for Curtis Davies, however in our case we have a recall after 28 days should our own problems dictate.

‘One thing that made the decision a wee bit easier was Marlon Harewood, who still has not started a Premier League game but has had a major impact in matches now. That is great, and he feels much more part of it than ever before which is really terrific.

‘We do get a recall after 28 days, that is part of the arrangement. Everything is in place- the permanency of it all, too. But if we get a number of problems here then we get a recall here after 28 days.

‘The way things are going, if we stay clear of injuries then hopefully Luke can complete his time at West Brom.’

Comparing the deal to the one struck with them for Curtis Davies, O’Neill continued:

‘West Brom want to take him to the end of the season, and then buy him at the end – a wee bit like the arrangement we have with Curtis Davies.

‘They would like to take him on loan now, at this minute, and are trying to cover all bases really – making sure he is involved if they go through to the play-offs, that they cover those particular games.

‘They have met the asking price. They have agreed the fee. I am not asking for a loan fee because I have a chance of getting him back at the end of 28 days. So you are not likely to ask someone for a fee is there is a possibility of a recall.’

Now most know I’ll be sad to see Luke go, I don’t think he’s been given a proper run or played to suit his talents and that we’ve a strange over reliance on Carew and Gabby regardless of their given form. Most fans will think of his agents comments from a few months ago and although Luke still hasn’t spoken about this directly himself, it appears he has made his concerns abundantly clear to MON though:

‘Luke wants to go. He is pretty anxious to go.’
