John Carew injured?

Not seen anything yet on the official site but as you will no doubt know, he was subbed yesterday in the game v Chelsea in the 63rd minute. Now that obviously wasn’t a tactical decision as we don’t usually make tactical substitutions plus Carew is on form and scoring at the moment (as he did yesterday.

I noticed this in our forum from TRL:

‘Didn’t see any thread on it, so I thought I should just let it be known. In the Norwegian tabloids he is reporting himself injured after the match, which is why he got subbed. The same injury he has had before and we might be looking at several months out. But then again could be a week, he wasn’t sure. Anyway, thought you would know.’

Now having searched I’ve found the Danish paper and it appears he has his back injury return, the one that saw him out for three months last winter.

In a rough google translate..! He told Dagbladet:

‘- I tried å Fortsett, but in other dealings felt pain like two knives in his back.’

He says the pain comes and goes and when asked how long he thinks it will take to clear he says ‘I do not know’ and that he will be rested and get some treatment and then see.

Could be a week, could be months.

Gulp.

There aren’t many certainties in football but this one, I think, is CERTAINLY wrong.

A report by Ralph Ellis in The Mirror say that Alex McLeish at Blues will watch the contract talks between Carew and Villa (he has 15 months left on his contract so can leave on a free the summer after this one) and will move if the talks break down.

The report says the relationship between the 30-year-old Norwegian striker and Villa boss Martin O’Neill can be labelled ‘uneasy’ and MON has made several very public comments about his attitude and has also questioned how/why some of the Villa fans have him as their hero.

Carew has already, apparently, been told he has to wait until the summer to be offered a new contract. Thought I’d done an article on this, evidently not! There is a thread in the forum though: Click Here

Waiting til the summer? That usually means offers will be listened to. But not to the Blues, just can’t see that. Injury prone or not, he is still a high profile player and would get a move to a European side I would image?

As said, injury wise, nothing on the official site but the quotes in the press seem to come directly from the big man.
