Martin Laursen is an injury doubt for the Boxing Day clash against Arsenal.

We know a number of key Arsenal players are missing for the clash, but obviously we are hoping to solidify our position in the Top 4 and excluding Carew, were expecting to field our strongest side. If Laursen is ruled out he will be a big loss to us, especially as last time Knight and/or Cuellar played in the centre we all had concerns. Cuellar also has his own injury worries which makes life even more interesting.

The worst bit for the worriers is that Laursen has felt some pain in his knee after the West Ham match which instantly puts his previous knee troubles back to the fore of everyones mind.

Villa are currently awaiting the outcome of scans, but hopefully it’s only a minor strain and nothing serious. The plus point is Laursen felt perfectly fine after the Wet Spam match and it was only the next day he felt some pain. You would imagine anything serious would be felt straight away.

Speaking to the Express and Star O’Neill said:

‘At the moment I don’t know the full details. Martin came off the field against West Ham and felt fine.

‘Then on Sunday evening he started to feel pain in his knee, so obviously got in touch with the physios and the doctor.

‘He went for some scans and we are now waiting for the results. Fingers crossed it won’t be too serious but we don’t know yet.’
