Martin O’Neill says that Villa are keeping a close eye on Lee Hendrie.

(de-ja-vu as I wrote this yesterday, lost it and so it never got posted!)

The Villa boss also says there is a 24 hour recall clause in the 29-year-old’s deal with The Potters.

Hendrie is on fine form for Stoke and has three goals in six games and has impressed in a loan that is meant to last three months at the Britannia Stadium.

Some reports are suggesting that tomorrow’s clash with Coventry could be his last game as people have put 2+2 together and see from O’Neill’s quote an imminent re-call. I must admit, I’m not sure I can see it myself!

O’Neill said: ‘We’ve got an instant recall clause now and I’m much happier about that. He’s gone and got fit, and played well, and we are monitoring him closely.’

Vital Villa asked if we should recall Hendrie,

46% said yes.
10% said not yet.
16% thought he should see out his loan until January.

On the other hand 24% said he shouldn’t be re-called and thought he should be sold.

That left 4% who were unsure.
