Patrik Berger is gunning for glory and has set his sights on the League Cup as Villa take on Leicester City tonight at the ‘Packet of Crisps Bowl’ or whatever their stadium is called!

Berger told the official site that the team are looking for the short cut into Europe, must admit I just use the Ferry!

‘We know that if we win the cup we go straight into Europe. It is a big competition for us and I hope we can be successful. This is the shortest route into Europe – you can have qualified by February. I don’t think the big teams – the top four or five – take it that seriously but the rest of the league is very focused.’

Meanwhile Liam Ridgewell is looking to Martin O’Neill to bring a bit of his League Cup magic to Villa saying: ‘We hope the manager’s record in this competition rubs off on us and he should instil in us that belief that we can do well in it. Cup runs are brilliant and give you momentum in the league too. We want to go as far as we can. We have the chance to play in a great stadium at the end of the journey and we share the fans’ optimism in the competition.’

Villa will be cheered on by over 4000 Villa fans as O’Neill returns to his former club, lets hope he gets the reception he deserves and we get the win we deserve!
