Managers DO Make A Difference

I have always thought the role of a coach in football is somewhat over rated, now that doesn’t mean I think anyone can coach!

But after what Hiddink has achieved with Australia and the way they have played in their last 5 or 6 games I think it is paramount you somehow have a good coach, but I feel they are rarer than a great player.

Now I know this has a touch of patriotism about it but the transformation of Australia has been nothing short of amazing, we were always going to be hard to beat because of the Aussie never say die thing but to play as we did against Brazil where I think we could have definitely got a point or 3 is testimony to the lengths they have improved under Hiddink.

Now I’m not spouting off as if this game is a one off, there has been the last 10 minutes against Japan where they scored 3 goals, the draw against the Netherlands, the win against Uruguay in Sydney (on penalties, but a win is a win is a win) and more importantly the draw in the Centanario in Uruguay, where even Brazil have NEVER won.

I’m so proud of what Australia have achieved and hopefully it will continue against Croatia, but in can quickly disintegrate as we all know, but I just know we wont lie down and submit.

The most important thing here I think is the way they have played, possession of the ball, not a lot of hit and hope and quick precise movement up and down the park.

My question……..how much would it cost for Aston Villa to secure Hiddink for 3 years?

Doesn’t have to be the next 3 years but 3 years somewhere, preferably now of course.

Loads I am sure…but along the way it would be enjoyable and knowing the team will perform ABOVE their individual ability and knowing they can upset ANY team and not relying on hope alone.

O’Leary could have the pick of any 15 players at the World Cup and he would definitely..I mean definitely muck it up.

You DON’T have to have the best players to have the best team.
