Luckless Mark Delaney is set to see a specialist to get to the bottom of his knee injury.

The Aston Villa and Wales defender, who has had to watch this season from the sidelines, told the official site:

‘It’s unfortunate that I haven’t progressed as I wanted. I’m going to see a specialist today to see whether any more can be done. It’s pretty minor and if there’s some surgery to be done, it will be nothing major. But it’s a difficult time for me – it’s my right knee again but hopefully there’s better news this time. I’m bewildered by it to be honest and I’ve decided to see someone else to see whether I need to rest it or start training again.’

Adding: ‘I’ve had a lot of swelling so I had to rest it to get that down but now there’s soreness. I’m now in the process of looking at alternatives to see whether I can start doing anything. It’s the same knee I’ve seen people about before but I keep picking up little niggles which keep me out for a couple of weeks here and there. It’s just so frustrating because I haven’t been able to prove myself under the new manager. All the lads are doing well and I’m having to watch the games on TV.’

What a shame he gets so many injuries, must be such a downer when all you want to do is play. If he hadn’t had so many injuries in recent years he’d have been a great shout for captain as he has never been afraid to boss the team about or crunch in with tackles.
