Martin O’Neill spoke to www.avfc.co.uk after our fantastic 2-0 win v Fulham singling out striker Gabby Agbonlahor for special praise.

Gabby, now on 12 goals this season (go on Gabby, you get beyond 20 for us, been a while since someone has, think the last was Yorkie wasn’t it? Certainly the last striker in the league to get 20 was Peter Withe) got his just desserts according to MON adding ‘I thought he played excellently today as well.’

And on the result, ‘I’m delighted with the team today. I thought we deserved to win……Just to win today was a big boost for us.’

He also said to Sky Sports that Gabby took his chances ‘magnificently’ calling the second (a pass from Carlos Cuellar with much left to do) ‘just absolute class.’

If you’ve not seen the goal, you are in for a treat on Match of the Day tonight.

MON added, ‘It’s three very valuable points for us in our quest to try and stay with the leading pack.’

He also says that Villa are looking to go on a run now to keep with or ahead of the rest of the chasing pack. ‘Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool – you never write Liverpool off at all and they’re still capable of winning four or five consecutive games. That is something that we’re trying to do. A couple of times this season we’ve gone three or four and we would like to be able to do that. Then we would count ourselves a real, proper side.’

In an exclusive with Vital Villa, MON added ‘……..’

One day maybe! :o)

One thing is for sure, Villa fans, team and manager will be smiling all the way home from London tonight.

We will have the welcome return of Glensider’s expert away match reports to look forward to tomorrow as well.
