The Mirror say that Nigel Hokey-Cokey has become unsettled after losing his first-team place and claim that both Everton and Fulham are monitoring the situation. However the paper also says that Martin O’Neill wants to hold on to him and made it clear that he is a part of his plans.

The Daily Mirror say that Sunderland want Celtic and former Coventry City manager Gordon Strachan to replace Ricky Sbragia who resigned yesterday after ensuring Sunderland were safe. Just wondered how long it will be before the press link Martin O’Neill to a return!? Everton boss David Moyes was linked last week. Not being nasty to the Toffees but I’d love that to happen, purely because I think Moyes is a great manager as he’s shown this year beating Villa to 5th despite very little money to spend and a terrible run of injuries.

Meanwhile, in a day very short on Villa transfer gossip, James Milner is hoping Villa can keep hold of Villa skipper Gareth Barry. Milner said he would like to see Villa keep hold of their squad and add to it adding, ‘Keeping Gareth or not is not down to me. I just come in and play football. That will be decided by the manager and obviously Gareth and his agent. But Gareth is obviously going to be a wanted man because he is a top-class player and that’s what happens when you are playing for a big football club.’

I can’t see any other links or gossip today, maybe the press had their end of season parties yesterday!!!!!!
