Rumours have been a bit thin on the ground so I’ve saved them up for a round-up instead of spamming us all up with small articles on daft links that rarely come true!

The Birmingham Mail say that Deportivo La Coruna are expected to step up their interest in Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil in the coming weeks. Be great for him to get his situation sorted, must admit I quite liked him and thought of all the players we`ve tried with, he looked unlucky to be shipped out.

And a bit more: Wantaway midfielder Carles Gil is expected to trigger a bidding war in the coming weeks with both Deportivo La Coruna and Real Betis desperate to sign him. Brum Mail

Not really a link for Aston Villa because he`s been released but looks like good news for Libor Kozak as he might have found a new club. See: www.birminghammail.co.uk

Also in The Birmingham Mail is a report saying that Sam Johnstone will decide on his future in the next 2 weeks. He is currently being linked with us, Sunderland, Watford and Leeds United. A previous report claimed that Manchester United would allow him to leave on a permanent deal for around £5million. However this report suggests a loan move could be more likely again and that Steve Bruce remains hopeful he will want to return to Villa.

I can’t be alone in thinking him totally average? Very overrated. I can’t tell from his quotes if he asked to leave or Villa said they want him to leave though?! …………. Jordan Amavi has confirmed that Aston Villa have made him available for transfer this summer. Having moved from OGC Nice for a reported £9million in the summer of 2015, Amavi has gone on to make 39 starting appearances for the club with an additional nine appearances from the bench. Last season he made a total of 36 appearances under Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Bruce but it seems 23 year old Amavi has had enough of the Championship and Bruce is more than open to a departure. Having turned down a heavy bid from Marseille previously, clearly we won’t get that kind of return you would suspect but numbers do need to be trimmed this summer purely from a financial point of view.
