Mystic Mug apologises

Martin O’Neill said Villa ‘showed plenty of guts and character today’ after the 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

The Villa, backed by outstanding away fans who were in fine voice from start to finish, put on a display to be proud of. The Villa boss reflected:

‘I thought we were absolutely splendid today. We showed a bit of character right through the side. Even when we went a goal down and there might have been a feeling of ‘here we go again’, we stuck to the task. We played with great spirit, great determination and not a little ability. That was typified by Patrik Berger, but all the players contributed.’

‘We could even afford the luxury of missing a penalty – not that it felt much like a luxury at the time! But then Gabby came up with a wonderful winning goal. Our equaliser came at a great time. It’s a hard old league – as we’ve found to our cost at times. We’ve gone behind in a lot of games and it’s not that easy to come from behind at this level. But today we came from behind, never gave up and went onto a deserved victory in the end.’

‘Now we go into another big game at home to Wigan on Monday and another three points would move us a lot closer to safety.’

Vital Villa asked for your predictions, I get the feeling we had a few visits from Blackburn fans as 44% tipped us to lose, 28% said we’d draw and 28% were right with a win.

Mystic Mug has apologised for losing the faith after predicting a draw!

A fan who attended the game sent me a text saying Martin Laursen and Patrik Berger were ‘awesome’ today.
