David O’Leary has shuffled the pack and gone for a five man midfield in the hopes of combating the physical and in form Bolton Wanderers team. Angel has been dropped to the bench. Steven Davis is also getting a well earned rest but is available as a sub.
The midfield will consider of Hendrie, McCann, Milner – who returns having sat our last weekends match against his club Newcastle – Barry and Eirik Bakke. Lets hope they are up for the battle because a battle is certainly what they will get!
Baros will be the lone striker, which will work as a tactic as long as the midfield at least attempt to create some decent chances for him. Any of the ‘hoofing’ the ball forward and Bolton’s ‘giants’ in defence will have a nice easy afternoon!
Villa: Sorensen, Mellberg, Barry, Hendrie, McCann, Baros, Milner, Bouma, Hughes, Ridgewell, Bakke. Subs: Samuel, Angel, Taylor, Davis, Moore
Bolton, as expected, have named an unchanged team from the one that beat Arsenal 2-0 last weekend:
Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Gardner, O’Brien, Ben Haim, N’Gotty, Nolan, Faye, Speed, Davies, Diouf, Stelios. Subs: Walker, Nakata, Vaz Te, Okocha, Jaidi
Kick off 3pm. Reebock Stadium.
