Overall A Good Season For Villa?

It’s been a good season overall…

Well, there we have it – another season done & dusted. Although it’s had it’s highs (Beating Man U at Old Trafford) and it’s lows (losing to Manchester United at Wembley), overall I don`t think we can complain too much… I’m sure the opti’s will be delighted, and I’m sure the negi’s will be disappointed, but I think overall nobody can have too many complaints. Here’s some of the highlights and the lowlights of the season as a recap, and to be fair to both sides of the coin!

Highlights

Finishing on more points than last season
Beating United at Old Trafford
Beating Liverpool at Anfield
Reaching the League Cup Final
Reaching the FA Cup Semi-Final
The purchases of Dunne, Collins & Delph
Milner’s new found role in midfield
Beating blues twice

Lowlights

Losing at Wembley twice
Heskey…
Delph’s injury
Luke Young’s mystery absence
Losing to Wigan at home on the first day
Missing out on 4th again
Only winning 8 home games

My personal opinion is that the good outweighs the bad, and with just 2 quality signings, we could go far next season. Wouldn’t mind Benayoun & Bent please 😀 Let’s hope that this summer brings in some real quality, and not just more squad players…

Also think it’s time for a good clearout… Sidwell, Beye, Harewood & Heskey to start with!

Here’s how I see us lining up for the first game of next season:

GK: Friedel
DR: L Young
CB: Dunne
DB: Cuellar
DR: Warnock
ML: A Young
MC: Milner
MC: Petrov
MR: Benayoun
ST: Carew
ST: Bent

Subs: Guzan, Collins, NRC, Albrighton, Downing, Agbonlahor, Delfouneso

Here’s to next season, UTV!
