Stiliyan Petrov has said that Chris Herd proved the kind of player he was as he put all memories of the Albion game from his mind to face off against Sunderland.
Speaking to the Official Site Petrov praised Herd’s response following the Albion game, and he also said that with Herd sitting deep and taking the defensive role, it gave him more freedom to get up the pitch and score his cracker.
‘In previous seasons I have been the one who has been sitting deeper and looking after everyone but now it’s Chris. He’s taken over my position and given me more chance to go forward. He’s a boy with good confidence and a good attitude.’
Petrov adds.
‘He showed that this weekend. With what happened the previous week it showed what he’s made of by playing well in the very next game.’
Stiliyan also thanked the fans for their confidence in him, especially as he only seems to score wonder goals thesedays.
‘I am enjoying it and my confidence in front of goal is improving. The fans believe in me – even at the halfway line they are shouting ‘shoot’. It’s good to hear.’
