As we`ve just reported, Lamberts First Signing – An El Of A Bargain!… Villa have signed Karim El Ahmadi.

Here are a few positives from the forum thread plus a couple of videos:

Steff The Villa:

I’ve seen a video of this young man and I am most perturbed! He does these things called passing and tackling, I was amazed! He kicks the ball and you’ll like this bit, it goes to one of HIS OWN players, I just didn’t know that was possible, and apparently you can do something called a tackle where you get the ball off the opposition player (and get this) it’s then passed to one of your OWN players, I thought you were only allowed to do something called a sliding tackle in your own penalty box, but I have also been informed that these apparently don’t always end in a penalty, here’s the important bit, IF you get the ball BEFORE you take the player out, it’s legal! Who knew? Don’t know if it’ll catch on at the Villa, but it’s worth a shot, shot! That sounds familiar, more research methinks, I shall share my findings later.

James06: Here’s my Dutch colleague’s perspective (a Feyenoord ST holder)

I am very sorry that he will leave Feyenoord…… He is a hard working and very clever midfielder. Last year he was one of the key players. On the other hand…..he could also be difficult to live with. As long as the Villa manger can deal with him, you will have a lot of fun of Karim.
But if I were you guys I would pick up Jonathan de Guzman as well. He is playing for Villareal that relegated from the Primera Division to the second division in Spain…..he wants to leave. I think he has got more than enough potential to be one of the best Dutch midfielders (better than van der Vaart)

A contact on Facebook just sent me a message (thanks Ivan)

‘Almadi was last year voted best midfielder in the Dutch comp which dragged Feynoord to 2 place in the table.. yes he did play in Dubai 2 years ago but this year was one of the best midfielders !!! He will be a bargin and a good player for Villa…’
