Possible January Loan Deals for Strikers

As we are all aware we are in desperate need of a striker to help alleviate the burden on 19 year old Keinan Davis.

With long term injuries to Kodjia, Hogan and Gabby we’d be remiss if we didn’t look for some back up when the January transfer window opens up.

As we all know only too well the Financial Fair Play rules (designed to keep anyone challenging the established money teams in the future) are preventing the good doctor from splashing the cash. So here’s a look at a few forwards that may or may not be available on a loan or have been linked in the press.

1, Charlie Austin. This season hasn’t gone as planned for Austin at Southampton. He has proven Championship quality and at 28 we could still get him in his prime. Would Southampton be willing to send him out on loan or could we nab him on the cheap?

2, Danny Ings. Ings seems to need an opportunity to get his career back up and running again. A superb spell with Burnley was brought to an abrupt end by a club that seems to have no interest in playing him. If we could convince Liverpool to send him to us on loan it could benefit all parties concerned.

3, Leonard Ulloa, The 31 year old has been prolific in the past but his time at Leicester seems to have come to and end with him only managing 18 goals in 82 appearances for The Foxes. However many of those were from the bench and he may have something to offer yet.

4, Jhon Cordoba. Rumours persist that Bruce is interested in getting this young talent to Villa Park by hook or by crook. Frankly I know nothing of this player and judging by Wikipedia he’s hardly prolific but has a decent scoring record for the Columbian U20’s side. However Cologne saw enough to shell out £13m on him and he seems out of favour there already so maybe a loan move might breathe new life into him.

Any other suggestions?

  • To be fair, Liverpool haven’t played Ings because he’s only just coming back from a long-term injury. I read somewhere he scored a hat-trick for their U23 side in his first game back. That said, he’d do a job for us without doubt. Can’t see him coming he

  • Think Austin would suit the way we play but he seems to be injured a lot, not sure if he has a weak ankle or something. I wouldnt mind us getting Afobe or Gayle, neither seem to be getting much game time and would be an improvement on what we have.

  • I’m not going to let the facts get in the way of a chance to get a dig in at Liverpool JuanPabloAngel

  • Why do we keep hearing that Flabby is a striker? I think his time with us is limited. Don¬ít think Liverpool will play ball so Austin looks the best bet.

  • Only one option if Xia is serious. Gayle. If we stay in this league another year, i honestly can’t see a comeback. Our wage bill in this league is crazy. That and ffp will trap us in this league. Gotta spend in January.

  • Ings would be great but doubt he or Liverpool would agree. It looks like FFP will play a part however, Grealish, Green, Bree, Suliman,Davies,O’Hare,RHM,Clark,Doyle- Hayes to mention a few will need to be given a chance or more of a chance. Maybe not a bad
